Alesana – Annabel Lyrics

Rock

How does the dagger feel now?
When you're on the receiving end
If this is what you call betrayal
Then this is what I call revenge

How could I be so blind?
I guess I fell in love too quickly
But I'm fine

Imagine where you'd be now if you only knew (if you only knew)
The one you love is
The one who's killing you
I trusted you too much
I know now that I should have
Kept my eyes wide open (should have kept my eyes wide open)

The first time that we kissed
I'll bury you for this
Just say to me that this time is the last time

And I'll pretend that somehow I know I will be fine
Years spent watching in silence

As your illness spilled onto page
Those were the last days I spent with you
Before you left, before he came

How could I be so blind?
I guess I fell in love too quickly
But I'm fine

Imagine where you'd be now if you only knew (if you only knew)
The one you love is
The one who's killing you
I trusted you too much!
I know now that I should have
Kept my eyes wide open (should have kept my eyes wide open)
The first time that we kissed
I'll bury you for this

Just say to me that this time is the last time
And I'll pretend that I'm fine

Oh Is it my faults?
You fell into the illusion you've been living discretely
Oh should I blame you in the end?
Did you ever think the sketches would take over completely?
Oh is it my fault?
Oh is it my fault?

Die!
Just die!
You are scum!
You are filth!
Choke on blood as your knife ends the show!
Writhe the pain you thought you'd never
Know!
I don't think they dig graves close enough to hell for the likes of you!
I don't think they dig graves close enough to hell fo the likes of you!

I handed you a knife and my heart oh, oh
I handed you a knife and my heart oh, oh
And now the dream is over
And now the dream is over
I handed you a knife and my heart oh, oh
I handed you a knife and my heart oh, oh
And now the dream is over
And now the dream is over

How could I be so blind?
I guess I fell in love too quickly
But I'm fine

Imagine where you'd be now if you only knew (if you only knew)
The one you love is
The one who's killing you
I trusted you too much!
I know now that I should have
Kept my eyes wide open (should have kept my eyes wide open)
The first time that we kissed
I'll bury you for this

I handed you a knife and my heart oh, oh
I handed you a knife and my heart oh, oh
And now the dream is over
And now the dream is over
I handed you a knife and my heart oh, oh
I handed you a knife and my heart oh, oh
And now the dream is over
And now the dream is over
I handed you a knife and my heart oh, oh
I handed you a knife and my heart oh, oh
And now the dream is over
And now the dream is over

i just figured out what the whole album's story means... i think its about him feeling guilty for killing her and him missing her and becoming a killer and killing innocent people but he is also mad that she cheated on him and he is mad that the person she was cheating with and her tried to kill him...or something like that...

The band explains the album on their official website, save for this song. This song is about The Artist (the protagonist/antihero/narrator of the story) killing The Thespian (the murderer of Annabell) in an act of revenge, and realizing why she was killed. I'm not quite sure, but I've narrowed it down to two possible explanations: 1. Annabel was a prostitute, and The Thespian was her pimp, and he killed her as a way to punish the man who took his "property" away. Either that, or he was a former lover of Annabel who left him for The Artist, and he killed her out of his need for revenge.

they said : the one u love is the one is killing u...so i support the second explanation which is the artist killed annabel becuz she cheated on him!!he said he should hav kept his eyes opened!!

no no no he really does kill her but then he loses his mind at one point he thinks it wasnt him but hes talking about the dark side of him that did it and is now taking control of him. at the end, she doesnt literally kill him, but he dies from his own self, from her memory and him gone insane. honestly there are so many ways to interpret this song, that almost every option listed below is viable. The way i interpreted it was that: The artist was madly in love with Annabel, so in love that eventually it drove him crazy. He started having dreams about Annabel being murdered. The artist thinks that it actually happens and tries to seek revenge on the thespian. He also says that he meets a girl very similar to Annabel even though it is the real living Anabel. Annabel kills him in the end because she cant stand the fact that she turned him crazy and their is nothing that can be done. -Jack

If I could find the link I would show you guys, but there is a video of them talking about the video The Thespian. He says he never actually killed her, but who actually killed who is up in the air. Which implies it may not have been anyone killing her. But I can assure you, The Artist never killed her, but he did kill the people in the tavern. Which is why I think she killed him. "Did you ever think the sketches take over completely?" She thought he was going to live out his artwork. Which happened to involve her dying. She wasn't having it.

lol Annabel is a prostitute??? the thespian is another lover?? what the hell are you even talking about, anyway I read the whole story and one of the explanation here was right, the artist was just so damn madly in love with Annabel that he started sketching about her love dying, in the story, Annabel was so frighten of what was happening to his loved, that he had no choice but to kill him for he was turning into a madman, basically Annabel didn't really died, and those people saying Annabel is a prostitute or she cheated on her lover are just making this stuffs out, if you would read the story, in the final chapter or the epilogue, Annabel reveals what is truly happening, she sees her love killing himself by his very own eyes, her lover was sketching a horrifying story about her dying, killing 7 people, the thespian running there relationship, etc. all of these was just an illusion created by the artist himself, all the story about Annabel dying and everything, just happened in the artist's sketchbook, the only thing TRUE that really happened in the story, was Annabel killing the artist, the man who he once loved but changed just because of a damn book..

your all really really friggin st**id... she is not a mofo prostitute so kill that idea and she is not and never was cheating on him... so shut the hell up about all that sh*t... he had a delution that he killed her and then he thought the thespian killed her, when he is the thespian. the thespian is the insanity inside him. in reality Annabel feared for her life because she seen the story in his sketch book and killed him because hes going insane... most of this is like a medaphore, it says one thing but means a whole different thing... i&#039ve spent the last week researching this so i think i&#039d know.
