About Annihilator
Annihilator is a Canadian thrash metal band formed in Ottawa in 1984 by guitarist Jeff Waters, who became the driving creative force behind their technically precise and melodically infused take on extreme metal. Their debut album "Alice in Hell" (1989) featuring the classic track "Alison Hell" established them as pioneers of technical thrash, combining lightning-fast riffs with memorable hooks that set them apart from their more brutal contemporaries. Albums like "Never, Neverland" and later works such as "Refresh The Demon" showcased Waters' exceptional guitar work and the band's ability to evolve while maintaining their signature sound of aggressive yet accessible metal. Despite numerous lineup changes with Waters as the constant, Annihilator became one of Canada's most successful metal exports, influencing countless technical metal bands and proving that thrash could be both devastatingly heavy and surprisingly catchy.
