Arbouretum – Absolution Song Lyrics

Blues

I wrote a song for absolution
I needed one that could go back in time
To wind its way to a world's beginning
A wind for turning the arrow around

I washed my clothes in a holy river
Let hang to dry and stains reappeared
For years I kept from eyes around me
In rushes down by the banks of a dream

The world's moved on but moments linger
In flickering light as a film clatters on
I've been recast, have since recanted
Those scenes, they seem so extreme to me now

A running stag across the water
Protection comes as a glimpse through the reeds
In crested sun for a moment's passage,
then disappears to the dark of the green

On canyon walls and across the mesas
A song to after what's carved into stone
Connecting lines threaded into verses
Be still, be still, don't you shudder no more
