Echoes start as a cross in you,
Trembling noises that come to soon.
Spatial movement which seems to you,
Resonating your mask or feud.
Hollow talking and hollow girl,
Force it up from the root of pain.
Never said it was good, never said it was near,
Shadow rises and you are here.
And then you cut;
You cut it out,
And everything
Goes back to the beginning.
Silence seizes a cluttered room,
Light is shed not a breath too soon.
Darkness rises in all you do,
Standing and drawn across the room.
Spatial movements are butterflies
Shadows scatter without a fire.
There's never been bad, there has always been truth,
Muted whisper of the things she'll move.
And then you cut;
You cut it out.
And everything
Goes back to the beginning.
Never said it was good, never said it was new,
Muted whisper of the things you feel.

About This Song

"Hollow Talk" is a haunting meditation on emotional disconnection and the cyclical nature of psychological trauma that unfolds through layers of ambient electronic textures and ethereal vocals. The song explores the phenomenon of dissociation-where overwhelming fear and pain cause someone to mentally retreat, creating a hollow, echoing internal space where authentic communication becomes impossible. Through imagery of spatial distortion, masks, and shadows, the lyrics capture the experience of being present in body but absent in spirit, going through the motions of interaction while feeling fundamentally severed from genuine connection. The Danish band crafts a dreamlike sonic landscape that mirrors this psychological state, with reverb-drenched vocals floating over minimalist electronic arrangements that feel both intimate and vast. The repetitive structure and the phrase "everything goes back to the beginning" suggest the inescapable loop of trauma responses, where attempts to break free only lead back to the same patterns of withdrawal and hollow engagement. The production's use of space and silence becomes a crucial element, creating an atmosphere that feels simultaneously claustrophobic and empty. This sonic approach perfectly complements the lyrical exploration of how fear can create internal voids that make meaningful human contact feel impossible. The song resonated with listeners who recognized this particular form of emotional numbness, offering a beautiful yet melancholic articulation of modern alienation and the struggle to maintain authentic relationships while battling internal demons.

    In "The Bridge" the text of the lyrics is different. First line "Echoes stutter across a room..." and surely the singer would have corrected the mistakes (if such they be) after three series of The Bridge? Compare the similar parts of the lyrics about a ROOM.
