Goodbye album cover

Cream – Badge Lyrics

Blues

Thinkin' 'bout the times you drove in my car
Thinkin' that I might have drove you too far
And I'm thinkin' 'bout the love that you laid on my table

I told you not to wander 'round in the dark
I told you 'bout the swans, that they live in the park
Then I told you 'bout our kid: now he's married to Mabel

Yes, I told you that the light goes up and down
Don't you notice how the wheel goes 'round?
And you better pick yourself up from the ground
Before they bring the curtain down
Yes, before they bring the curtain down
Oohhoo

Talkin' 'bout a girl that looks quite like you
She didn't have the time to wait in the queue
She cried away her life since she fell off the cradle

you know i don't have the slightest idea, but i've always enjoyed listening to Badge, the way it shift gears, especially, "...and i told you about the swans that they live in the park". wtf, right? somehow, and maybe cause davey jones just kicked the bucket, but i think of this song in the same way i do Daydream Believer, which doesn't make a lick of sense either. written by john stewart from the Kingston Trio, itz an incredible tune, and i don't have a clue how people can write such nonsense and make it stand the test of time. incredibly fantastic, and RIP to davey and a belated one for john stewart, who passed away in 2008.
