Disturbed – The Animal Lyrics

Rock

Nah, nah

Now

I can feel the animal inside
And my resolve is weakening
Pounding at the doors of my mind
It's nearly overpowering

I cannot begin to describe
The hunger that I feel again
Run if you intend to survive
For the beast is coming to life

Taking form in the glimmer
Of this tainted moonlight
Death approaches on this night

For the animal's soul is mine
We will be completed right before your eyes
I have no control this time
And now we both shall dine in hell tonight

I can hear it calling again
The primal need is filling me
Changes are about to begin
And now my blood is boiling

I can see the fear in your eyes
But you can't bring yourself to scream
Time to shed the mortal disguise
For the beast is coming to life

Taking form in the glimmer
Of this tainted moonlight
Death approaches on this night

For the animal's soul is mine
We will be completed right before your eyes
I have no control this time
And now we both shall dine in hell tonight

We begin the hunt and I
Feel the power course as the creatures take flight
For the kill is close and I will be satisfied

For the smell of fear tonight
Wakes an ancient lust that will not be denied
You're mine

For the animal's soul is mine
We will be completed right before your eyes
I have no control this time
And now we both shall dine in hell tonight

For the animal's soul is mine
And the world around will never hear your cries
An unholy crime
And now we both shall dine in hell tonight

About This Song

"The Animal" is a dark, aggressive exploration of inner demons and the loss of self-control, depicting the psychological battle between civilized restraint and primal, destructive impulses. The lyrics use vivid metaphors of a beast breaking free to represent how rage, trauma, or mental illness can overwhelm rational thought and moral boundaries. Musically, the track features Disturbed's signature heavy guitar riffs and David Draiman's powerful, growling vocals that perfectly embody the animalistic transformation described in the song. The song stands out for its unflinching portrayal of psychological darkness and the terrifying moment when someone realizes they're losing the fight against their own destructive nature. It resonates as both a personal confession and a broader commentary on the thin line between humanity and savagery that exists within us all.

Epic song! Not only is it sound amazing, but the fact that it's about a werewolf makes it even better. Again, an epic song!

is this song about sacrificing humans to satan?"i can see fear in your eyesbut you can't bring yourself to scream, time to shed the mortal disguise, for the beast is coming to life"

Its inspired by the movie the wolfman..so probably not about satanic rituals.

it's not about a werewolf or satan it's about the constant struggle between our animal and "human" instincts and the wolf is used as a metaphor because it is easily identifiable with a lot of human traits while at the same time being one of the most feral animals

Werewolves themselves are symbolic of humanity struggling with its more savage side. I fail to see what the argument here is.
