About Fastway
Fastway emerged from the ashes of Motörhead and UFO in 1982, when bassist Pete Way and guitarist "Fast" Eddie Clarke joined forces to create a band that would bridge the gap between heavy metal's raw power and hard rock's accessibility. Their self-titled debut album and follow-up "All Fired Up" showcased a sound that was both harder-edged than mainstream rock yet more melodic than pure metal, with Clarke's distinctive guitar work driving anthems like "Get Tough" and "Feel Me, Touch Me (Do Anything You Want)" that became staples of early MTV rotation. The band's cultural impact peaked with their contribution to the horror film "Trick or Treat" (1986), where their music became synonymous with the era's intersection of heavy metal and B-movie culture, particularly through tracks like "Heft!" and "Give It Some Action." While their sound evolved from the driving, blues-inflected metal of their early work to incorporate more commercial hard rock elements on albums like "Eat Dog Eat," Fastway remained true to their core identity as purveyors of no-nonsense, riff-driven rock. Despite lineup changes and the challenges of the changing music landscape, their 74-album catalog spanning over four decades demonstrates a remarkable consistency in delivering powerful, guitar-centric music that influenced countless bands in the NWOBHM movement and beyond. Songs like "Far Far from Home" showcase their ability to blend emotional depth with crushing heaviness, making them unsung heroes of British metal who helped define the sound that would influence generations of hard rock and metal bands.
