About Fishbone
Fishbone is a Los Angeles rock band formed in 1979 who pioneered an explosive fusion of punk, ska, funk, and metal that defied categorization and influenced countless alternative acts. Their frenetic live performances and genre-blending approach on songs like "Party at Ground Zero" and "Bonin' in the Boneyard" helped bridge the gap between underground punk and mainstream alternative rock in the 1980s and 90s. Albums like "Truth and Soul" and "The Reality of My Surroundings" showcased their ability to seamlessly weave social commentary with infectious rhythms, while frontman Angelo Moore's manic energy and saxophone skills became legendary. As one of the few prominent Black bands in the alternative rock scene, Fishbone broke down racial barriers and paved the way for bands like Living Colour and Bad Brains to gain wider recognition.
