Flyleaf – Chasm Lyrics

Rock

Break up already, wake up now
Walk away, take it all back now
Don't be quick to lick the scab off
You're spitting in his face with the rest of them
Break up already, wake up now
Walk away, take it all back now
Don't be quick to lick the scab off
You're spitting in his face with the rest of them

Please, give me something
I'm so thirsty, I'm so thirsty
Oh please, let me warn them
Don't you come here
Don't bring anyone here

The chasm isn't fixed yet
Take this water
Drinking ever deeper
Living water
The chasm isn't fixed yet
Take this water
Drinking ever deeper
Living water

Please, give me something
I'm so thirsty, I'm so thirsty
Oh please, let me warn them
Don't you come here
Don't bring anyone here

Help, help, help, help, help, help
Please, give me something
I'm so thirsty, I'm so thirsty
Oh please, let me warn them
Don't you come here
Don't bring anyone here

This song is very touching talking about how someone who has spent their entire life filling their life with empty meanings has found God and is asking for his love to fill up the hole that was in their heart.

"Your spitting in the face with the rest of them"I beleive that means, were all disobeying God because we are sinners. Were just like everyone else but I beleive the ones who try to live like Jesus Christ did, I dont beleive were spitting in his face. And Chasm, is another term for hell.Jesus hasn't came yet, so it's complete but not fixed yet.Living water, The living God that can be everyone's.

This following passage is the basis for the lyrics: Luke 16:19-31. You're welcome.

No ones perfect. That's what it means. As much as we want to live a christ-like existence there's the element of human nature that is a chasm that can't be fixed. All we want is something to fill the void of a mortal life. A wound will never heal if you remove the scab.
