Home is where the heart is, my heart's own home
Though I never really had one to call my own
I've been given a key by the Carpenter of Galilee
With interest paid the title's made to me

Home, where there is no night
Home, where the son is the light
The place I've been dreaming of so long

Loved ones there to welcome me
But his sweet face will be the first I see
When my journey's over I am going home

Everybody dreams of going home it seems
Lately I am no exception to the rule
But home is so much more than windows, walls and doors
It's a warm embrace and smiling faces is waiting you

Home, where there is no night
Home, where the son is the light
The place I've been dreaming of so long

Loved ones there to welcome me
But his sweet face will be the first I see
When my journey's over I am going home

Home, where there is no night
Home, where the son is the light
The place I've been dreaming of so long

Loved ones there to welcome me
But his sweet face will be the first I see
When my journey's over I am going home
When my journey's over I am going home

About This Song

"Home" by Gaither Vocal Band is a deeply moving meditation on spiritual homelessness and the profound longing for eternal belonging that transcends earthly circumstances. The song explores the ache of those who have never experienced true earthly security or familial love, using the metaphor of homeownership-complete with legal terminology like "title" and "interest paid"-to illustrate how Christ's sacrifice has secured believers a permanent place in heaven. The lyrics reveal a sophisticated theology of redemption, where the "Carpenter of Galilee" doesn't just offer salvation but literally transfers ownership of an eternal dwelling to those who accept it. Musically, the Gaither Vocal Band delivers this message through their signature rich harmonies and traditional gospel arrangement, creating an atmosphere of both yearning and assurance that perfectly mirrors the song's emotional complexity. The production emphasizes warmth and intimacy, allowing the vocals to carry the weight of both earthly sorrow and heavenly hope. What makes this song particularly powerful is how it acknowledges real pain-the absence of earthly home and family-while offering genuine comfort rather than dismissive platitudes. The repeated emphasis on "no night" and Christ as "the light" creates a vivid contrast between the darkness of current struggles and the promised eternal dawn. This resonated deeply with Christian audiences because it validates the very real experience of feeling displaced in this world while affirming the ultimate security found in faith.

I am just travelling thru this world and wen my journey's over, I'll be going home to my Saviour. I don't know about u, but I am astounded that someone would love me so much to take my penalty of death and die for me whose " righteousness is like filthy rags". Jesus left His home in Heaven to come and die for sinful man because we can't save ourselves from sin.
