You don't know that I know
You watch me every night
And I just can't resist the urge
To stand here in the light
Your greedy eyes upon me
And then I come undone
And I could close the curtain
But this is too much fun

I get off on you
Getting off on me
Give you what you want
But nothing is for free
It's a give-and-take
Kind of love we make
When your line is crossed
I get off!
I get off

So much left unspoken
Between the two of us
It's so much more exciting
To look when you can't touch
You could say I'm different
And maybe I'm a freak
But I know how to twist you
To bring you to your knees

I get off on you
Getting off on me
Give you what you want
But nothing is for free
It's a give-and-take
Kind of love we make
When your line is crossed
I get off!
I get off

What you don't know
What you can't see
Is what I do for you
I do for me?

I get off on you
Getting off on me
I give you what you want
Yeaaaaaaah...

I get off on you
Getting off on me
Give you what you want
But nothing is for free
It's a give-and-take
Kind of love we make
When your line is crossed
I get off!
I get off

Yeah, I get off!
Yeah, I get off!
I get off

It's not about anything sexual. According to an interview at the local radio station, it's about the rush that the band gets while performing live.

Haha, which is funny, because if that's true it's clearly meant to be misinterpreted as something sexual.

    not sexual my ass

It's obviously sexual. Coming undone in the light? Not closing the curtains because it's too much fun? Clearly she likes stripping in front of her window where some guy can see her. He thinks she doesn't know, but she does. She lets him watch because it flatters her to know that someone wants her bad enough to watch her undress every night. Anyway, who cares if it's sexual, it's a great song!

it is definately sexual. she did an interview and clearly stated that it was about a man who watched her undress everynight and would masturbate to it, and she got off on it, and was flattered, so she continued to get undressed in front of the window and dance around everynight.

Well when my line is crossed is he getting off? laughs.. Maybe someday i will find out i mean who knows,my b/f did introduce me to this song maybe he's dream of me undressing for his eyes only and getting off lol

Chicks are totally like this (speaking as one). A lot would be totally flattered to know that someone found them so attractive that he would watch them undress and jerk to it.

Look, It's a great rock song - interpretation is up to you. It could be just another woman playing games on some poor sucker.

As someone said way earlier, they have stated in MANY interviews that the song is inspired by the feeling they get during a live show. However, they also said that they knew that many people would interpret it in a very sexual way (and I think they're just fine with that).

It's damn clearly NOT about performing music on the stage. If she says that she's a dumbass liar, so I sure hope she doesn't.

okay, this song obviously is the harvester....seperating the idealistically art-minded listeners from the literal-minded perverts.... it's a song, so it's poetry, so it's metaphorical....it's MEANT to sound innuistic, because everyone can relate to that, whereas NOT everyone can relate to stage (or video) performance. So she expresses the rush, the thrill, the euphoric feeling she gets via rock-band performance in terms anyone can understand. In fact, relating thrill to sex is almost cliche....it's been said that piloting a high-speed fighter jet is akin to sex...etc. So only a complete noob would take this metaphor literally.

it IS sexual :D look at this line... "You're greedy eyes upon me And then i come undone" and.. "It's so much more exciting To look when you can touch" i do agree with the others.. it sure sounds like some guy watches her undress thinking she doesnt know but she does and it excites her knowing some guy gets off by watching her which gets her off too... which can be more exciting than the actual sexual performance. this line "when your line is crossed" i'm not sure what this one means though. i really dont care what she tells the interviewers.. she can keep the real meaning of this song personal if she wants.

I just don't understand why everyone feels the need to what the meaning behind the song is. Music is art, and art is meant to be interpreted differently by different people. Some would find it sexual, some more thrilling. I'm sure there are people out there who could find religious meaning in the lyrics. It doesn't matter what the artist was feeling once it's been presented to someone else. The only thing that really matters is what meaning YOU find in it and if YOU like it. F*** everything else. ~besanii_kamisan

Saw them in concert last night they kicked ass! She did say it was about how she feels while perfoming live!

~besanii_kamisan. Song meanings add to the song so that people can relate. It's a way of identifying with our favorite artists and what their mindset was when they were writing the song. If we want to discuss it and interpret it who are you to say what we should and should not think? Get off your high and mighty free spirit, free love and drug toting ass and appreciate what's behind the music.-EasyCheetah

I love this song. I love Halestorm and Lzzy Hale is one sexxxy bitch. :) I have to say that a couple of the lyrics are wrong here. It should be "You could say I'm different and maybe I'm a freak" (not afraid) and it should be "When the line is crossed" (not your). That being said I dont know why everyone is trying to figure out if the song has a sexual meaning...its obvious that it does. The song explores exhibitionism and voyerism. It is just that simple.

Wellll I think the song's about her having a peeping tom... She knows he peeks while she masturbates, but he doesnt know she knows. Its awshum :D
  • Anonymous
it's sexuall. she's got a peeping Tom.. and he watches her get off :)and getting off does not mean having an orgasm. it just simply means you cum. this song is amazing. and a few lyrics are wrong :/--alexx

I think it's actually about what she feels when they perform live, and her feeding off the audience while they're feeding off her :DAt Least that's what i got when i saw them live! I F**cking Love Halestorm!!!
