Hillsong – Oceans (Where Feet May Fail) Lyrics

Soundtrack

You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery
In oceans deep
My faith will stand

And I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine

Your grace abounds in deepest waters
Your sovereign hand
Will be my guide
Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me
You've never failed and You won't start now

So I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine
And You are mine
You are mine

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Saviour

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Saviour

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Saviour

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Saviour

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Saviour

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Saviour

Oh, Jesus, you're my God!

I will call upon Your name
Keep my eyes above the waves
My soul will rest in Your embrace
I am Yours and You are mine

About This Song

"Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)" is a profound meditation on faith in the face of life's most terrifying unknowns, drawing its central metaphor from the biblical account of Peter walking on water to meet Jesus. The song explores the paradoxical nature of spiritual growth-that true intimacy with the divine often requires stepping into situations where human strength and understanding completely fail. Lyrically, it's not simply about trusting God during difficult times, but about actively seeking out the "great unknown" where conventional wisdom offers no safety net, because that's precisely where transformative encounters with the sacred occur. The production builds this tension masterfully, beginning with sparse, haunting piano and vocals that mirror the vulnerability of stepping onto unstable waters, then swelling into an oceanic wall of sound that both represents the overwhelming nature of life's storms and the encompassing presence of divine love. The song's genius lies in reframing fear and uncertainty not as obstacles to faith, but as the very conditions necessary for its deepest expression. Its massive global resonance stems from how it gives voice to a universal human experience-the terror and exhilaration of moving beyond the safety of the known into spaces where only trust can sustain us. The track became an anthem for anyone facing major life transitions, losses, or callings that demanded stepping beyond their comfort zones. Rather than offering easy comfort, "Oceans" celebrates the beautiful, terrifying reality that spiritual maturity often means learning to find God not in calm waters, but in the depths where feet may fail.

I'm Sorry Brenda Sharp, I love our Nation, but we are not a Christian nation, Christians are in captivity,, We are a secular nation now,, with laws against God who murder our own off spring, and pervert the role of men and women in the family and marriage. Christians have no voice in our schools, Higher education included. We are captive in this land..Christians have not been able to stop abortion, gay marriages, Taking God out of the Public square.. If this were a Christian nation, these events would not be, . God will bring a persecution to bring us out of our sleep and together..
