About Jarabe De Palo
Jarabe De Palo was a Spanish rock band from Barcelona formed in 1996 by singer-songwriter Pau Donés, who blended Latin rhythms with alternative rock to create a distinctive Mediterranean sound. Their breakthrough hit "La Flaca" became a defining anthem of Spanish rock, while albums like "La Flaca" and later works showcased their evolution from acoustic-driven folk-rock to more experimental arrangements incorporating flamenco, reggae, and pop influences. Donés' raspy, emotive vocals and poetic lyrics about love, life, and social issues resonated across Spanish-speaking countries, making them cultural ambassadors of Catalonian music. The band's 24-year journey ended in 2020 following Donés' death from cancer, but their legacy as pioneers of modern Spanish rock endures through classics like "Depende" and "Bonito."
