Jennifer Knapp – Undo Me Lyrics

Rock

Papa, I think I messed up again
Was it somethin' I did?
Was it somethin' I said?
I don't mean to do You wrong, it's just the way of human nature
Sister, I know I let you down
I can tell by the fact you're never comin' 'round
You don't have to say a thing
I can tell by your eye, exactly what you mean
That it's...

Time to get down on my knees
And pray, "Lord, undo me
Put away my flesh and bone
'Til You own this spirit through me, Lord
Undo me"

Mama, I know I made ya cry
But I never meant to hurt you
I never meant to lie
While the world shook its head in shame, I let you take the blame
Brother, I know you labored so hard to please
Yeah, yeah, yeah
But I cut ya down and I left you
On your knees
Well, I know it must be, yeah...

Time to get down on my knees
And pray, "Lord, undo me
Put away my flesh and bone
'Til You own this spirit through me, Lord"

I, I am wanting, needing, guilty and greedy
Unrighteous, unholy
Undo me, undo me

Abba Father, You must wonder why
More times than Peter I have denied
Three nails and a cross to prove
I owe my life eternally to You

Well, it's time to get down on my knees
And pray, "Lord, undo me
Put away my flesh and bone
'Til You own this spirit through me, Lord
Undo me"

This is a great song, just as powerful today as when it was first released. The part about denying God even more than Peter’s three times, is especially powerful. As a Christian living in the World, we may no deny Jesus by word like Peter did, but by action or inaction. I know I’ve failed in that way way more than three times as well. Thankfully My salvation does not hinge on doing good works, but on God’s Grace through faith in Jesus Christ. The thief on cross next to Jesus had no good works, but did have faith the Jesus was the Son of God, and he entered into Heaven that very day, just hours after he first believed. The thief who had joined in with the crowd in the mocking of Jesus, realized who Jesus was by character in his suffering and by his love for the very people who mocked him, so he repented and rebuked the other thief who continued to ridicule Jesus and then asked Jesus to take him to Heaven.Talk about the poster boy for Death Bed Confessions…..but that’s the truth, your past sins and mistakes are of no consequence to God, Jesus’ blood has already paid the price for those….it’s all about having faith in Jesus, feeling it in your heart. God is just and faithful to forgive if we repent and believe.
