About M
M was a French electronic pop group formed in London in 1978 by Robin Scott, who pioneered the fusion of new wave, disco, and early synth-pop with their infectious hit "Pop Music." Their debut album "New York London Paris Munich" became a defining statement of late-70s electronic music, with "Pop Music" reaching #2 in the UK and becoming an international anthem that bridged underground experimentation with mainstream appeal. Scott's minimalist approach, combining robotic vocals with irresistible dance beats, helped establish the template for synth-pop and influenced countless electronic artists. Though M disbanded in 1984, their brief but impactful catalog captured the optimistic spirit of early electronic music and remains a touchstone for the genre's evolution from underground curiosity to global phenomenon.
