Hearts can be deceitful, and the mind will lead astray
They taught you all about it in a song in second grade
That's a real conflict of interest when you put it in a certain light
Such a simple operation, but it left you paralyzed
So what's left?
For really knowing anything?
To sort the meaning from the means?
The voice of god from dopamine?
I know you're scared it's make believe
It's a heavy lift to take it in and carry on
Much less to carry anything with all your fingers crossed.
You paid respects to innocence, took a breath and caught your second wind
Shouting I can't live here anymore, but I still have to live!
So what's next
When there's no view without a lens
Or any truth that won't depend
On open hearts and calloused hands
You just don't have those muscles yet
It takes some time to find the strength
All said, there is no faith in certainty
But it's our turn to taste and see
We're all discerning in between
And no one knows, but some believe
