OAR – Shattered Lyrics

Rock

In a way, need a change from this burnout scene
'Nother time, 'nother town, 'nother everything
It's always back to you

Yeah, I stumble out, in the night on the pouring rain
Made the block, sat and thought, there's more I need
It's always back to you

But I'm good without ya
Yeah, I'm good without ya
Yeah, yeah, yeah

How many times can I break 'til I shatter?
Over the line can't define what I'm after
I always turn the car around
Give me a break, let me make my own pattern
All that it takes is some time, I'm shattered
I always turn the car 'round

I had no idea that the night would take so damn long
Took it out, on your street and the rain still falls
You push me back to you

But I'm good without ya
Good without ya
Yeah, yeah, yeah

How many times can I break 'til I shatter?
Over the line can't define what I'm after
I always turn the car around
Give me a break, let me make my own pattern
All that it takes is some time, I'm shattered
I always turn the car 'round

Whoa, don't give it up, give it up, baby
Give it up, give it up, now
Right now

How many times can I break 'til I shatter?
Over the line can't define (what I'm after)
(I always turn the car around) yeah
All that I feel is the realness I'm faking
Taking my time, but it's time I'm wasting
I always turn the car around

How many times can I break 'til I shatter?
Over the line can't define what I'm after
I always turn the car around
Don't wanna turn the car 'round
I've gotta turn this thing around

Where's my drink?
You guys having a good time so far? (Yeah)
Well, you just wait then
'Cause it's gonna get a lot more fun, yeah
Your sign's upside down, sir
Well, we already got one out of three, right?
So, we got one more to go
We're gonna get that, we're gonna get that, that middle one for you right now
That middle song, the one right in the middle

I think this is about a person stuck in a crappy relationship that they can't seem to leave. They feel like if they could get away and build their own life again they'd be just fine, but somehow every time they try to leave they end up turning back. So they're waiting for the right moment, or waiting for things to get better maybe, but time's wasting and meanwhile they wonder much more they can take...

This song expresses ones desire to find happiness. Not relationship related, but when one looks in a mirror and finally decides that they are not happy with ANYTHING in their life. They tell themselves "all I feel is the realness I'm faking." They are faking being happy, they are just so stuck in a miserable comfort zone that they know they need to change, just scared to. This is a lesson for EVERYONE OUT THERE!!! You can't be afraid to try to change, to try to be happy. If you try and fail, then hey, you tried. If you tried and succeeded, congrats to you. You will see that it wasn't so bad after all.

I love the song/lyrics! I'm still searching for whatever is out there that keeps pulling me, but in my search I also don't want to totally let go of what's familiar either............

I think that this song is about rolling with the punches. I think it's about having a landslide of misfortunes, and about trying to get back to how things were, trying to put yourself back together. That's what it means to me.

This song, to me, is about wanting to leave but knowing you can't because what you want to leave is a part of you.
