About Opus

Opus is an Austrian pop-rock band formed in Graz in 1973 who became international superstars with their anthemic 1985 hit "Live Is Life," a stadium-ready singalong that captured the euphoric spirit of 80s rock. The song's infectious energy and universal appeal made it a global phenomenon, regularly played at sporting events and festivals worldwide, while establishing Opus as Austria's most successful musical export. Their sound blended arena rock with pop sensibilities, featuring driving rhythms and crowd-pleasing hooks that translated across language barriers.
