About Pestilence
Pestilence is a Dutch extreme metal band formed in 1986 who evolved from brutal death metal pioneers into progressive metal innovators, helping define the technical death metal subgenre. Their early albums like "Consuming Impulse" established them as death metal legends, while later works such as "Testimony of the Ancients" and "Spheres" pushed boundaries by incorporating jazz fusion and progressive elements. After disbanding in 1994, they returned in 2008 with "Resurrection Macabre," proving their enduring relevance with tracks like "Soul Search" and "Twisted Truth." Mastermind Patrick Mameli's guitar work and the band's fearless experimentation across their catalog, including recent albums like "Obsideo" and "Doctrine," solidified Pestilence as one of metal's most influential and boundary-pushing acts.
