About Planet P
Planet P is a German rock project masterminded by Tony Carey, former keyboardist of Rainbow, who created a conceptual sci-fi universe through synthesizer-heavy progressive rock in the early 1980s. The debut album "Pink World" (1984) spawned the hit single "Why Me?" and established Planet P's signature sound of dramatic vocals, lush keyboards, and dystopian themes that bridged arena rock with new wave sensibilities. Songs like "Pink World" and "To Live Forever (Part 2)" showcased Carey's ability to craft epic, cinematic soundscapes that influenced the emerging synth-rock movement. Though commercially modest, Planet P's theatrical approach and conceptual ambition helped pave the way for progressive rock's revival in the MTV era.
