I have been thinking about what this song really means and I came to the conclusion that they are singing about their disagreement with the "seperation of church and state" policy, as well as the education of our youth in schools who are denied any insight about intelligent designs, or in other words, about how God truly exists and that we are all going to regret denying him one day in the future.Thats just what I am thinking. Anyone else have any thoughts?

Too me it sounds either anti religious (which is a bummer.) But on the other hand it sounds like theyre trying to say that religion shouldnt be just another thing like math where you just regurgitate information, they want people to actually get into it on a spiritual view.

I see this as anti-religious. They're complaining about intelligent design creeping into classrooms (the youth they learn in the right way), and how the entire political system has too much influence from religious groups (separation of church & state).

Rebelution (The movement, nothing to do with the band) Is, according to wikipedia; a teenage rebellion against the low expectations of an ungodly culture.This whole song does seem to fit in with this movement, but not in a positive way, still seems to me that it's anti religious.

This song has always baffled me. Most lines in the song are vague enough to be viewed in either light. I think the last verse might reveal their position: what a revelation oh how they say / what an aggravation how I say. Revelation seems to imply 'they' are the religious while Rebelution is aggravated by it. Also, considering how liberal/green the band is (based on other songs and some of their commentary at concerts), I'd be suprised if they were pro-religion in schools/government.
