Sade – In Another Time Lyrics

R&B

You' d be surprised, girl
Soon they'll mean nothing to you
They'll fall into their brew and take down
Some of the boys with them too

There's nothing
Nothing that you have to do

In another time girl
Your tears won't leave a trace
In another time girl
In another place

You've been down girl
Their whispers are hailstones in your face
You're so tired of waiting
For something to change

They don't know what to do
With something so good
That you wouldn't hurt them
You wouldn't hurt them if you could

One of these days
They're gonna fall into their brew
And they'll know exactly
What they did to you

Darling, I just want you to know
Your tears won't leave a trace
In another time, girl, in another time girl
In another place

Darling, I just want you to know
Your tears won't leave a trace
In another time, girl, in another time girl

About This Song

"In Another Time" is a tender ballad of hope and resilience that offers comfort to someone enduring judgment and social cruelty, promising that their current pain is temporary. Sade's signature smooth, jazz-influenced R&B style creates an intimate atmosphere with gentle instrumentation that supports her compassionate vocal delivery, as she reassures the listener that "in another time" and "another place," their tears and struggles will fade away. The song explores themes of perseverance through adversity, the healing power of time, and finding strength despite feeling worn down by others' harsh treatment. With its message of patient endurance and eventual transcendence, the track exemplifies Sade's ability to transform personal struggle into universal solace, making it a standout piece on her comeback album *Soldier of Love*. The song's gentle wisdom and emotional maturity reflect the band's evolution after their eight-year hiatus, offering listeners a sophisticated meditation on overcoming life's darker moments.

The song is very touching and it delivers two messages, "time heals" & "what goes around comes around". In essence, is not worth getting worked up over someone who played with your feelings because the boomerang effect will take its course.

Beautiful song. You can feel the pain . . . and the music is wonderful. Great job!

I love this song. Everytime I hear it, it never gets played out to me. This song is a reminder of ''what is'' and ''what was'', the relationship like. What goes around comes around. Karma is a snitch. :)

A rousing soul-stirring ballad from Sade. The sax echoes the messages of the heart...in another time...in another place.

I don't know what's the most haunting, the music or the lyrics. They both are telling the same story so, so well. The marriage is amazing, its as if the words are set in one space in time and the music is already in that place in the future that the lyrics speak about. That has to make sense to someone other than just me.

This Sade song doesn't have many lyrics, but what lyrics it does have....is truly powerful. She has an amazing way of delivering her lyrics so that you can feel and empathize with what she is saying. Her voice is distinct, that a true Sade fan would know her from just singing a sample of some work. Truly a good song, just as in Soldier of Love. Haven't heard the rest of the album just yet, but am about to check it out....gn

This song evokes the hurt and pain others can have on a person, but elicits that hope that things will turn out alright....it is a beautiful sentiment and tune.

Sade never gets old and doesn't change her style for the times and i love that old school feel. This song is touching and has a message of hope and the assurance that things will get better if you let them.As a father of 4 daughters it's a great message for young women.

My fiance was recently murdered and i have never experienced so much pain in my life...this album was actually given to me by him a couple days before he died...and it has been so comforting listening to the words...esp this song. i do believe that what goes around comes around so that is my comfort. We need to do no wrong ourselves but life has its own way of sorting things out and correcting all the wrongs! i love you KTJ! always have...always will :'(

It is indeed a very touching song....subtly putting across the fact that eventually, Karma does come back around....Regardless of how long it may take...It speaks to me!!!!

I believe that many girl teens and just young adults in general can relate to this song. For the fact that they go through so much. Young females know how hurtful people can be in school. Specially with all the peer preasure; and he say she say. i.e 'the text message murder' or the facebook murder, both of which caused two young girls to take their own lives over hurtful things said and done. What people dont realize is that what we say and do affects others. Unfortunately we have people that do not care about others feelings. And most teens dont know what to do when it happends to them so they turn to drugs, have emotional issues. Many drop out of school, some suicide. Anyway, I think this song is truely beautiful and can be a mentor to our young adults. More music like this is needed.
