About Samhain
Samhain was an American horror punk band formed in 1983 by Glenn Danzig after the dissolution of the Misfits, bridging the gap between punk's raw energy and heavy metal's darker atmospherics. Their sound evolved from the aggressive punk of "Initium" to the more metal-influenced "November-Coming-Fire," featuring songs like "Unholy Passion" and "To Walk The Night" that showcased Danzig's powerful vocals over increasingly heavy instrumentation. The band served as a crucial stepping stone in Danzig's artistic evolution, helping establish the template for gothic metal while influencing countless horror punk and metal acts. Though active for only four years, Samhain's dark, occult-themed music and theatrical presentation left an indelible mark on underground rock culture.
