Sanctuary is an American heavy metal band formed in Seattle in 1985, pioneering a progressive thrash sound that bridged classic metal with complex songwriting and Warrel Dane's soaring, operatic vocals. Their debut "Refuge Denied" (1988) and masterpiece "Into the Mirror Black" (1990) showcased intricate compositions like "Future Tense" and the haunting title track that influenced the emerging progressive metal scene.
