About Screaming Trees
Screaming Trees was an American rock band from Ellensburg, Washington, active from 1983-2000, who helped define the grunge sound with their psychedelic-tinged heavy rock and Mark Lanegan's distinctive gravelly vocals. Their breakthrough album "Sweet Oblivion" (1992) featured the MTV hit "Nearly Lost You," which became one of grunge's most enduring anthems and helped establish them alongside Nirvana and Soundgarden in the Pacific Northwest scene. The band evolved from garage rock origins into masters of melodic alternative rock, with later works like "Dust" (1996) showcasing more mature songwriting on tracks like "All I Know" and "Look at You." Though they never achieved the commercial success of their Seattle peers, Screaming Trees' influence on alternative rock and Mark Lanegan's subsequent solo career cemented their legacy as grunge pioneers.
