Spinnerette – Baptized by Fire Lyrics

Alternative

Have you ever been alone?
Fighting your own war?
Someone stole the life from you
And now they're back for more
Your heart is on the floor
Beating out of control
Oh I don't want this anymore
So I'll be sailing on
Out into bermuda blue
Compass needle breaks
Like the heart I gave to you
I've been laying down in the devil's lair
Sailing into the sun I'll be baptized there
In matters of the heart
One must try to fill it up
With Love and grace
You'll start a fire
Immerse old wounds and douse them out
Pick your heart up off the floor
Hold it gently now and go
To the place you were meant to know
So I'll be sailing on
Out into bermuda blue
Compass needle breaks
Like the heart I gave to you
I've been laying down in the devil's lair
Sailing into the sun I'll be baptized here
So I'll be sailing on
I'm gone
I'm gone
I'll be sailing on
I'm going into the sun
So I'll be sailing on
Out into bermuda blue
Compass needle breaks
Like the heart I gave to you
I've been laying down in the devil's lair
Sailing into the sun I'll be baptized here

Im assuming that this song is about a unwanted relationship, and all the things done while in it. And that you should take what you have in a bad situation and just go, and that only god can judge you, for you.

"Baptized by fire" is not a solely religious phrase, it can be used to generally describe any situation in which one learns or is "broken in" under painful/stressful conditions..for instance, when I first started working at a busy bookstore just as the holiday season started, my manager jokingly referred to it as my "baptism by fire". ^_^ In this case, the instructive-but-painful "baptism" seems to be regarding a relationship from which she's moving on. She's gone through hell in the old situation, now she's moving on--literally and figuratively--and being "baptized", that is, reborn anew. (This can of course be interpreted in a secular or spiritual context, as one prefers.)^_^
