Stone Sour – Imperfect Lyrics

Rock

Some things are better off forgotten
We bury them in places that we really only visit by ourselves
Oh, and you were a version like no other
Oh, they never tell you what to do when all you see is gone
What's the sense in anything when what they say is wrong?

Oh, what do you wanna hear?
Do you wanna know how many times I tore myself apart
'Cause you're not here?
And oh, why do you wanna know?
Does it make you feel alive?
I had to die to finally let you go

Stop me, I find myself believing
Oh, a story gets rewritten so a blasphemy's permitted once again
Oh, and you were so perfectly imperfect
Oh, they never tell you what to do when all you have are lies
What's the sense in anything, it's just one more goodbye

Oh, what do you wanna hear?
Do you wanna know how many times I tore myself apart
'Cause you're not here?
And oh, why do you wanna know?
Does it make you feel alive?
I had to die to finally let you go
Oh, yeah

Oh, what do you wanna hear?
Do you wanna know how many times I tore myself apart
'Cause you're not here?
And oh, why do you wanna know?
Does it make you feel alive?
I had to die to finally let you go

Finally let you go

About This Song

"Imperfect" is a deeply introspective ballad that explores the aftermath of loss and the struggle to process grief when someone significant is no longer present. The song delves into themes of memory, regret, and the painful realization that some experiences are too overwhelming to fully confront, leading to emotional burial and avoidance. Musically, it showcases Stone Sour's softer side with a melancholic melody and Corey Taylor's vulnerable vocal delivery, contrasting sharply with their heavier material. The track captures the raw confusion of mourning-questioning what's real, what's worth remembering, and how to move forward when fundamental beliefs about life have been shattered. Its emotional honesty and relatable exploration of human fragility make it a standout piece that demonstrates the band's range beyond their typical hard rock sound.

This song is so far from the Slipknot-Corey Taylor it's amazing. Corey Taylor is showing off how versatile he can be. This is one of the most depressing love songs I've heard. Ever. Such an amazing song... Reminds me of that one girl... K.N.H. Will always love you

Without a shadow of a doubt one of the saddest songs ever penned to paper.Better than Snuff in Slipknot guise.

My girlfriend was listening to this song all the time before she left me. Didn't pay any attention but now I know she was trying to talk to me through this song. Funny how you don't understand shit until it slaps you in the face.

This is my struggle over the past 4 years. I fell in love and everything was perfect. One day, it all ended suddenly. It took me until recently to let go, but I'm still terrified of loving someone else. Some days, I wonder if he still thinks of me and why, if he did love me as much as I did him, we are apart. It still takes all my strength to let it go. Now, all I have on that relationship are the fading memories and the fairytale stories of our everyday life. The song does remind me that the memories I have will never be the ones he has and most of our life togethet is reduced to rumour and hearsay. And, in turn, our story changes from what I remember. And, yes, sometimes, it hurts as if it just happened. It always will hurt. But I just have to live with it and deal with it in my own time.
