Stone Sour – Through Glass Lyrics

Rock

I'm looking at you through the glass
Don't know how much time has passed
Oh God, it feels like forever
But no one ever tells you that forever feels like home
Sitting all alone inside your head

'Cause I'm looking at you through the glass
Don't know how much time has passed
All I know is that it feels like forever
But no one ever tells you that forever feels like home
Sitting all alone inside your head

How do you feel? That is the question
But I forget, you don't expect an easy answer
When something like a soul becomes initialized
And folded up like paper dolls and little notes
You can't expect a bit of hope
So while you're outside looking in, describing what you see
Remember, what you're staring at is me

'Cause I'm looking at you through the glass
Don't know how much time has passed
All I know is that it feels like forever
But no one ever tells you that forever feels like home
Sitting all alone inside your head

How much is real? So much to question
An epidemic of the mannequins contaminating everything
We thought came from the heart
But never did right from the start
Just listen to the noises
(Null and void instead of voices)
Before you tell yourself, it's just a different scene
Remember, it's just different from what you've seen

I'm looking at you through the glass
Don't know how much time has passed
And all I know is that it feels like forever
But no one ever tells you that forever feels like home
Sitting all alone inside your head

'Cause I'm looking at you through the glass
Don't know how much time has passed
And all I know is that it feels like forever
But no one ever tells you that forever feels like home
Sitting all alone inside your head

And it's the stars
The stars that shine for you
And it's the stars
The stars that lie to you, yeah
And it's the stars
The stars that shine for you
And it's the stars
The stars that lie to you, yeah

I'm looking at you through the glass
Don't know how much time has passed
Oh God, it feels like forever
But no one ever tells you that forever feels like home
Sitting all alone inside your head

'Cause I'm looking at you through the glass
Don't know how much time has passed
All I know is that it feels like forever
But no one ever tells you that forever feels like home
Sitting all alone inside your head

And it's the stars
The stars that shine for you, yeah
And it's the stars
The stars that lie to you, yeah
And it's the stars
The stars that shine for you, yeah
And it's the stars
The stars that lie to you, yeah, yeah

Oh, and the stars
Oh, and the stars, they lie

About This Song

"Through Glass" is a haunting ballad about emotional isolation and the painful distance that can exist between people, even those who are physically close. The song explores themes of depression, disconnection, and feeling trapped within one's own mind, with the "glass" serving as a metaphor for the invisible barriers that prevent genuine human connection. Musically, it showcases Stone Sour's softer side with acoustic guitars, subtle orchestration, and Corey Taylor's vulnerable vocal delivery, contrasting sharply with his aggressive style in Slipknot. The track became one of Stone Sour's biggest hits, resonating with listeners who identified with its raw portrayal of mental health struggles and the feeling of being an observer of life rather than an active participant. Its emotional honesty and accessible rock sound helped establish Stone Sour as more than just a side project, demonstrating the band's ability to craft deeply personal, radio-friendly anthems about psychological pain.

It's about the front mans time in jail. And how things aren't really that different outside. Still get caught up in your head and deal with fake people and feel trapped. The stars lie to you because you think that you are free just because you are on the outside.

It's self-reflective. He's looking into a mirror. It's basically psycho-analizing the image reflected back and wondering if that image is thereal person that he is or if it is what he should be.
