Sail Away
i'm sailing away
set an open course
for the virgin sea
for i've got to be free

free to face the life thats ahead of me
on board i'm the captain
so climb aboard
we'll search for tomorrow

on every shore
and i'll try
o lord i'll try
to carry on

i look to the sea
reflections in the waves
spark my memories
some happy, some sad

i think of childhood friends
and the dreams we had
we live happily forever
so the story goes

but somehow we missed out
on that pot of gold
but we'll try
the best that we can
to carry on

a gathering of angels
appeared above my head
they sang to me this song of hope
and this is what they said, they said

come sail away
come sail away
come sail away with me, oh ya

come sail away
come sail away
come sail away with me

come sail away
come sail away
come sail away with me

i thought that they were angels
but to my suprise
they climbed aboard their starship
and headed for the sky

singing, come sail away
come sail away
come sail away with me

come sail away
come sail away
come sail away with me

I grew up where rednecks were just the local farm kids and those who really didn't have any lick of sense were us "too good for you" kids. In the back seat of an old ford bronco that belonged to one of these "too good" kids I had just done my first experience with purple micro dot. aka LSD, or acid. The owner of the bronco had just acquired the 8 track tape for the group Styx, with the first coming across the air waves happened to be "Sail Away". MAN! I never forgot that TRIP...I still hold fond memories of listening to it, and even like to sing along with it when it comes on the radio. There were some good fantasy songs back in the 70's, and Styx happened to be there for you when you were intoxicated enough to enjoy its TRIP! hehehe
