I caught a little sunbird (all full)
of the blue sky from the above (and caged it)
so that it's light could be mine
but the sunbird cried, cried and cried
I couldn't take it-I let it go (sunbird)
it flew, and it flew, and it flew, (it flew)
like it didn't know what to do
soared into the stars, wine-red moon
One day my sunbird it came (back to me)
together with the light of the sun (held)
tight in its beak and it dropped
all that light in, shower around me.
and (I danced and I danced and I danced)
in all that light in shower around me
I caught a little sunbird
I couldn't take it
Now, when I see a sunbird (in the sky)
I don't even give a moan or a sigh (I don't long)
for the sunbirds or catch them at all
cause I lost what I had, gained after all
gained after all
(I danced and I danced and I danced)
gained after all
(I danced and I danced and I danced)
gained after all
I caught a little sunbird (all full)
of the blue sky from above (and caged it)
so that it's light could be mine
but the sunbird cried, cried and cried
(Sunbird) cried and it cried and it cried
(it flew) flew and it flew and it flew
(I danced) danced and I danced and I danced.
