Grown kids, once up to no good have settled-in
Suburban neighborhoods
Traded in our fire for a house of cards
Forced to pay, to play the game and look like everybody else
Oh what have we become?
And no more the silent now speak
As the eggshells crack beneath our feet
We may just step on someone's toes
As we roll up our sleeves And shrug off the apathy
Our pent up rage and mistrust
Will make our presence known
We're not diplomatic, fumbling words lack eloquence
As it's all we've got, our best will have to do
Materialism finally pushed us past the brink
Dust off the gloves, step back into the ring
And let slip the dogs of war
Remind a battered people what we're fighting for
Won't lose our grip Won't beg for more

The fact is, I'm getting older
But if the honest truth be told
There's something changed about punk rock
What does it stand for?
Is it a T-shirt and a drug scene?
A hairdo and a piercing?
We think it's more
It's a kid alone at midnight
Living life how it feels right
Though his parents are concerned
And think him strange
And at school the students shun him
And the teachers make fun of him
He knows in the end he's gonna make a change
Not being dramatic when he says
He's racked with fear
A reprisal for the words that he commands
But Self-isolation, it ain't no way to live
Kick down the door, step back into the sun

Now we engage in forced diplomacy
Will we risk it all to save ourselves
Or just sit tight, conserve our energy?
Reality ripped from the headlines
Cruel joke and a sign of the times
When folks won't read what's right before their eyes
They look away, they much prefer comfortable lies!
