I can still remember that night*
Hard white floors reflecting soft white light
Some joined their hands in prayer
Others cursed God, it's not fair
So much unsaid, yet so many feelings in my heart and my head,
I couldn't overcome the things left unsaid,
And it almost killed me when I thought you were dead
I was doubled over in a hospital parking lot,
Sickened by a million feelings and a single thought,
A humid night beneath an August sky,
I could hold your hand, but still I couldn't see your eyes
So much unsaid,
yet so many feelings in my heart and my head,
I couldn't overcome the things left unsaid,
and it almost killed me when I thought you were dead
