About Ween

Ween is an American rock duo formed in 1984 by Aaron Freeman (Gene Ween) and Mickey Melchiondo (Dean Ween) who became cult legends for their genre-hopping irreverence and lo-fi experimentation. From the crude punk-funk of early albums like "GodWeenSatan" to the polished pop of "White Pepper," they fearlessly blended everything from country and prog rock to psychedelia, creating songs like "The Mollusk" and "Baby Bitch" that showcased both musical sophistication and juvenile humor. Their willingness to embrace both the sublime and the ridiculous-evident in tracks ranging from the beautiful "Ocean Man" to the deliberately offensive "Piss Up a Rope"-influenced countless indie and alternative artists. Despite a hiatus from 2012-2016, Ween's four-decade career established them as fearless musical chameleons who proved that sincerity and absurdity could coexist in rock music.
