Gorillaz Plot Massive Fall Arena Run Behind Star-Studded 'Mountain'

Gorillaz are doing what they do best: making the impossible look effortless. Damon Albarn's cartoon collective just dropped their latest sonic experiment, 'The Mountain,' and now they're taking this sprawling collaborative beast on a proper North American victory lap. Twenty-four arena dates from September through Halloween, because apparently regular touring schedules are for bands without animated members.

The album reads like Albarn raided his entire contact list and somehow convinced everyone to show up. Johnny Marr rubs shoulders with IDLES' Joe Talbot, while The Roots' Black Thought shares space with sitar virtuoso Anoushka Shankar. Even departed legends like Bobby Womack and De La Soul's Dave Jolicoeur find their voices woven into this ambitious tapestry. It's the kind of guest list that should collapse under its own weight, yet somehow holds together through sheer Gorillaz alchemy.

The tour kicks off September 17 in Orlando and wraps October 31 in Seattle, with Deltron 3030 providing futuristic hip-hop support throughout. Little Simz joins most dates, adding her sharp British rap prowess to an already stacked lineup. Madison Square Garden, United Center, TD Garden - all the usual suspects will host this multimedia circus that's part concert, part art installation.

After nearly three decades of defying categorization, Gorillaz continue proving that the best music happens when boundaries become suggestions rather than rules. Tickets hit the market March 9, assuming you're ready for whatever madness Albarn and company have cooked up this time.
