Sharon Vaughn Performs at Park Center's 29th Benefit Dinner

Sharon Vaughn, a Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee, will take the stage tonight at Park Center's 29th annual How About Dinner and a Movie? fundraiser, performing alongside emerging artist Hadlie Jo.

The Feb. 25 event honors Debbie Carroll and kicks off with a cocktail reception at Anzie Blue. Vaughn penned "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys," the Oscar-nominated track that became the signature song for the 1979 film The Electric Horseman, where Willie Nelson performed the tune alongside Robert Redford. Waylon Jennings also recorded his own rendition.

"Waylon couldn't believe this young girl had written that cowboy song by herself, but I did, and the rest is history," Vaughn said. She added that hearing Nelson sing the song again during Redford's Kennedy Center honors induction proved unforgettable to her.

Jo, who recently signed with Great Daane Music and Sony Music Publishing, recently earned her first cut courtesy of Vince Gill.

The cocktail hour features live music and a silent auction stocked with items ranging from an autographed Phil Ramone guitar and a factory-new Gibson acoustic to exclusive CMA Fest tickets and a signed Nashville Soccer Club jersey with field access. At-home pet care packages with complimentary veterinary visits also go on the block.

Following the reception, guests relocate to the Belcourt Theatre for a catered dinner by Emily Frith for The Corner Market. A program celebrating Park Center's work and Carroll's legacy precedes a special screening of The Electric Horseman. Tickets remain available for purchase.
