Strait, Lambert Among Four Honored at Texas Songwriters Hall of Fame
The Texas Heritage Songwriters Association formally recognized four major figures in country music on Saturday, February 21st, when George Strait, Miranda Lambert, Don Cook, and Keith Gattis joined the Texas Songwriters Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony took place at ACL Live in Austin, drawing a lineup of performers who paid tribute to each honoree throughout the evening.
Ronnie Dunn hosted the event, which featured appearances from the inductees themselves alongside an array of country artists. Brooks & Dunn performed "Brand New Man," "You're Gonna Miss Me," and "That Ain't No Way to Go" in recognition of Cook's prolific songwriting career—the veteran tunesmith has notched 20 number-one hits across his portfolio.
For Gattis, performers tackled "Reconsider," "El Cerrito Place," and "I Got A Car." Parker McCollum, Natalie Hemby, and Ashley Monroe honored Lambert with renditions of "Famous in a Small Town," "Bluebird," and "Heart Like Mine," with Lambert herself joining Jack Ingram and Jon Randall to perform "Tin Man."
Jamey Johnson took the stage for "Kicked Out of Country," while Dean Dillon performed "Drinkin' Man." Strait closed out the ceremony with his son Bubba Strait, the two delivering "Here for a Good Time" together.
The ceremony also recognized Freddy Fletcher and Lisa Fletcher, founders and owners of Arlyn Studios, awarding them the Darrell K Royal Texas Music Legend Award.
