The Scratch explore mental cycles on new single 'Gladrags'
The Scratch have unveiled their latest single 'Gladrags', a track that finds the Irish punk quartet examining the psychological patterns of distraction and self-awareness. The song arrives ahead of their upcoming album 'Pull Like A Dog', scheduled for release through Music For Nations on March 13.
The band drew unexpected inspiration from a Tyler, The Creator interview, using it as a launching pad to explore themes of inattentiveness and mental loops. 'It's about how being inattentive can land me in hot water, which ironically makes me wander further into my thoughts, resulting in this perpetual cycle of inattentiveness,' the band explained. The accompanying music video, directed by Colin Peppard, features the group dressed as professional snooker players, adding a surreal visual element to the introspective subject matter.
'Gladrags' follows their previous release 'Pullin' Teeth' from the 10-track album, which includes songs like 'Mother Of God', 'Spacer', and 'Ringsend'. The Dublin-based band has built a reputation for combining punk energy with socially conscious lyrics, previously making headlines when they boycotted Radar Festival in solidarity with Bob Vylan over censorship concerns.
The Scratch will embark on an extensive international tour covering the UK, Ireland, North America, and Australia throughout the spring. Their biggest Irish headline show to date takes place at Dublin's Iveagh Gardens on July 4, marking a significant milestone for the band's growing profile in the punk scene.
