The xx Breaking Silence with Mexico City Show This April

The xx are officially returning to live performances after nearly eight years away from the stage. The London trio will kick off their reunion with a show at Mexico City's Pepsi Center WTC on April 4, 2026, marking their first performance together since 2018.

The band made the official announcement on February 24 via Instagram, confirming what they'd teased days earlier. In their statement, they acknowledged the long gap: "It's been a while since our last show together as The xx." They added a note of sentiment about their destination, saying "This is the start of a next chapter together, and there's no better place to return than in front of our Mexican fans. We've always felt a deep connection to Mexico – the warmth, the openness, the energy from the crowd."

This Mexico City date comes ahead of major festival appearances on their 2026 calendar. The xx will perform at both Coachella and Primavera Sound, giving fans multiple chances to catch the minimalist electronic trio live.

Recent months have suggested the band was building toward something. Last March, they were spotted working together in the studio. Jamie xx had mentioned in 2024 that the group was "having a good time" creating fresh material. The band shared rehearsal footage in September after Coachella's lineup dropped, and the three members reunited onstage at LIDO Festival, where Jamie xx headlined.

Since releasing 'I See You' in 2017—their second UK Number One album—each member pursued solo work. Romy Madley Croft dropped her debut solo album 'Mid Air' in 2023 and has released singles since. Oliver Sim put out 'Hideous Bastard' in 2022, followed by two singles last year. Jamie xx released his second album 'In Waves' in 2024, which featured his bandmates on the track 'Waited All Night'.

When speaking to NME at the BRIT Awards 2024 about potential new material, Romy gave little away but hinted at evolution: "We're just keeping it really open and we're up for trying new things, but it sounds like us."

Pre-sale tickets are available through the band's Instagram post.
