About U2

U2 is an Irish rock band formed in Dublin in 1976 who became one of the world's biggest stadium rock acts through their anthemic sound and Bono's passionate vocals. Their early post-punk energy on albums like "War" evolved into the expansive, spiritual rock of "The Joshua Tree," which featured classics like "Where the Streets Have No Name" and "With or Without You" that defined 1980s arena rock. The band reinvented themselves in the 1990s with electronic experimentation on "Achtung Baby," producing hits like "One," before returning to their uplifting rock roots with songs like "Beautiful Day." Beyond music, U2's activism and Bono's humanitarian work have made them cultural ambassadors, while their four-decade career has established them as one of rock's most enduring and influential bands.
